Okay so 12/24/09 Christmas eve day my mom, sister and i set out for nic nac’s house, which is USUALLY 3 1/2 hours away not 7 hours-2 days. Okay so we knew that we would be driving through a slight storm and that once we got closer to Hollis (where Nic Nac is) it would get worse so we would have to slow down. Well we were doing just fine until we got right outside of Lawton and came to a complete stop…for 4 hours. We were stopped behind a truck and a trailer, after a little while a officer walks by our car so we ask,”sir what is going on up there and when do you think we will move again”? He said “well there is a wreck up there so it won’t be any time soon, we are doing our best to clear it off but as you can see its not that easy’. We were like okay thanks. So we start looking around and people behind us start going around it all, we are just sitting in shock…little did we know we were waiting for NOTHING. So when we realize that there was nothing in front of the truck and trailer and they went around and continued on their way. WHile we are their trying to make a decision to go straight or around like everyone else done, we get stuck…. I get out of the car and start pushing, if you can imagine…me in my tights, a shirt and boots…obviously not ready for a BLIZZARD…thank you Jesus. Anyways, after me pushing it and this truck with guys and a chain we finally got out. So we start going on our way and talking to my dad on the phone, he begged us to get a hotel….yes a hotel on Christmas eve. So while driving to find a hotel there was not ANYWHERE we went that someone was stuck in front of us..THEN an IDIOT 18 wheeler driver trys to get around us…EXCUSE ME can you seeeeeeeeeee! NO ONE CAN GET ANYWHERE ESPECIALLY NOT YOOOOUUUUUUUUUU! DUMB DUMB DUMB! SO we finally get to the hotel, but guess what…we get stuck AGAIN RIGHT in front of the hotel. So what do i do…get out and push. Didn’t work. So we check in and go in to the hotel and a wrecker comes. SO we ended up spending Christmas eve and part of Christmas in a hotel. Okay its 9:30 this morning we are ready to get to Nic Nac’s we walk to our car and find a flat tire. We sit in the car and wait for this gentleman to air up our tire…which took 2 hours. Finally we are on our way to Nic Nac’s. We get here safe and sound. But we find out that everyone from Texas that was on their was here had to turn around becauseit was to dangerous and definitely not worth getting stranded. My dad is not with us because he had to work and was going to meet us here this morning but no one came to take his place. So My dad MAYBE coming in the morning.

I just can’t begin to tell you how overwhelming and a blessing this experience has been. I have learned so much through this. God never fails to show me his love, mercy and teaching spirit. I am warm and safe at Nic Nac’s house, and yes we went through a lot to get here, we are still here. This Christmas was so weird but so great. I still have very mixed emotions about this whole thing. I am just so sad that what i experienced last night is everyday reality for people. We just never realize how blessed we are until we hit rock bottom, we still didn’t have it as bad as some.

I Truley hope that everyone is safe and having a wonderful time with their family. That we are able to never forget what happened this Christmas and that wer never have to be reminded again what really matters.
